However, the cost of studying abroad often doesn’t come cheap. Between flights, living expenses, and tuition costs, studying abroad can seem like an expense you can’t afford.

But not all is lost, we put together a list of free and the most affordable universities in Europe that you should check out if studying abroad is on your radar.


1. SCUOLA NORMALE SUPERIORE

Scuola Normale Superiore is a top-rated college in Italy, and one of the best in all of Europe!

The school offers three main programs for undergraduate students: humanities, sciences, and political science. Further to that, the school also focuses on programs such as biology, chemistry, and physic focuses in the school of science.

So, what is the cost of studying at this university?

Scuola Normale is one of the tuition-free universities in Europe for international students. That’s right. Free! Plus, it doesn’t stop there. This school also offers payment for students’ living costs such as housing and food.


2. NORD UNIVERSITY

As a publicly-funded Norwegian university, Nord University doesn’t charge tuition fees.

The only catch is that, as a non-EU citizen, you are required to prove that you have the funds to support yourself for a year in Norway in order to get a visa to study there. While this requires some funds at your disposal, Nord University still belongs among the cheap universities in Europe that teach in English. The programs taught in English include Circumpolar Studies, 3D art, Animation, Games and Entertainment Technology, Biology, and English.


3. UNIVERSITY OF PARIS-SUD

Thinking of experiencing the charm of Parisian streets and incredible food? Look no further than the University of Paris-Sud. This university is one of the cheapest universities in Europe; the fees the university charges come at about $190 per semester for administrative processing. Their English-taught programs include sciences and languages, physics, and economics and management.


4. NANTES UNIVERSITY

France certainly is not short of incredible AND affordable education for international students. Another remarkable university Nantes can be the one for you.

Similar to Paris-Sud University, Nantes University charges only a small processing fee of $200 per semester.

Nantes University offers a variety of programs taught both in French and English including biology and Earth science, Foreign languages, Literature, Civilizations; and European and International studies.


5. UNIVERSITY OF BERLIN

The tuition at the University of Berlin is free! You’ll be responsible for living costs such as rent and food. In Berlin, living costs come out to about 700 euros a month, just less than $800 per month! This places the University of Berlin amongst the cheapest universities in Europe and teaches their programs in Germans as well as in English.
